FAQS

General In-Bond (7512) Questions

What is a 7512 form?

The CBP Form 7512 (Transportation Entry and Manifest of Goods Subject to Customs Inspection and Permit) is a document used to move imported merchandise through the U.S. without the immediate payment of duties or formal entry. This is commonly used for goods in transit to another port (IT) or another country (T&E/IE).

How long does it take to get an authorized 7512?

With our automated system, transmissions to ACE are near-instant. Most users receive their authorized 7512 within minutes of submission, 24/7, provided the data is accurate.

What is the "30-day window"?

For most in-bond movements (T&E and IT), you have 30 calendar days from the date of authorization to transport the goods to the destination port and "Arrive" them in the system. Failure to do so can result in significant "Overdue In-Bond" fines from CBP.

Can I file a 7512 if I am not a bonded carrier?

The carrier transporting the goods must have a valid custodial bond (Type 2) on file with CBP. However, a broker or forwarder can file the paperwork on behalf of that bonded carrier using the carrier's Bonded Carrier ID with valid POA in place.

Compliance & Fines

What happens if I forget to "Arrive" or "Export" an in-bond?

This is the most common cause of liquidated damages. If the bond remains "open" in the ACE system past the transit limit, CBP may issue a fine (often the value of the goods plus duties). Our system provides tools to easily send Arrival and Export messages to close the loop.

How do I prove my cargo actually left the U.S. (for T&E/IE)?

Your digital record in our system stores the Export Confirmation message transmitted to ACE. This electronic "handshake" is your primary evidence for CBP audits that the bond was satisfied.

Does Prestige Worldwide Brokers offer cargo insurance?

Yes. While the in-bond covers the government's interest in duties, it does not protect your cargo against loss or damage. We offer integrated cargo insurance options during the filing process for added peace of mind.

Using the Prestige Platform

Do I need to be a licensed Customs Broker to use your site?

No. Our Automated ABI platform is designed for carriers, freight forwarders, and importers. We provide the technology and the broker oversight; you provide the shipment data.

What information do I need to start a filing? You will typically need:

  • The Bill of Lading (BOL) or Air Waybill (AWB) number.

  • The Bonded Carrier ID (IRS number or DOT number).

  • The Port of Arrival and Port of Destination (4-digit codes).

  • A basic description and value of the merchandise.

Is there a monthly subscription fee?

No. We believe in transparent, transactional pricing. You only pay for the filings you need, with no hidden monthly "maintenance" or "software" fees.

How do I handle a "Paperless" In-Bond?

CBP has moved toward a paperless environment. Our system generates the electronic 7512 that satisfies the requirement for the driver to have a "document or screen" to present at the gate or to a CBP officer if requested.

Support

What if my 7512 is rejected by ACE?

Our system provides real-time error messages (e.g., "Invalid Port Code" or "Carrier Bond Inactive"). If you can't resolve the error yourself, our support team is available to assist with technical troubleshooting.

Can I cancel or amend a filing after it has been submitted?

Yes, our platform includes "Delete" and "Amend" functions. Note that amendments should be made before the cargo departs the origin port to ensure compliance.
